I think Miss Bowie are definitely outside of what most people think of as a Tribute band. I think they are a band paying tribute in that they are putting their own mark on the songs. They are not a tribute band dressing up and putting on wigs and accents to sound like Oasis or Nirvana. In that sense they are a genuine tribute and I reckon Mr Bowie would be well impressed by them. I am an out and out Bowie fan.

“Having had a brief preview of Miss Bowie at Oxjam 2018, they were kind enough to agree to my request to play my birthday bash on 23rd Feb 2019. The whole band was really friendly and helpful and made sure that the party ran smoothly. They did a brilliant job of honouring Bowie’s songs while putting their own twist on them, notably with Jane’s excellent vocals. They made the whole evening just swing and got everyone rocking. Anyone who’s into Bowie’s work, or is just looking for a great night out watching a good live band, then I’d recommend you go see Miss Bowie – you won’t be disappointed!!”

“Thanks for playing a great set. It sounded awesome in the crowd. We heard many people raving about how good you were and wanted to see you again.”

Oxjam / Beeston / 2018

My partner and I saw Miss Bowie and The Killer Stars in The Lion At Basford, NYE 2018. I looked forward to the gig from the minute I saw it advertised…I found the concept of a female Bowie tribute really exciting! Some friends joined us as a surprise, so it was a wonderful evening from the off.

The band and Miss Bowie’s sharp vocals sounded amazing…So much so, I gave their soundcheck a standing ovation! I didn’t mind looking daft, I was having a ball.

As the set began, the bar filled up. People were clapping, cheering and dancing…With good reason. Every song played was a winner. I was very impressed with the set list. The band explored well loved album in tracks and hidden gems, alongside the hits we know and love.

Particular highlights for me were Five Years and Boys Keep Swinging (The latter being my best friend from school and my “Our Tune…” Sam and I live 150 miles apart, so it was a lovely reminder!)

A Bowie-tastic night was had by all. I have no doubt Miss Bowie and The New Killer Stars gained new fans, myself included. I’m also sure The Starman himself would be delighted with them. I look forward to catching them again.”

“We watched the show at the 6 Barrells on Friday. Wow, we weren’t particularly Bowie fans before but downloaded him after. Great show, the lead singer is mesmerising and the band are incredibly tight, I couldn’t believe it was their second gig.”
